How to Prepare for Your Appointment

While everyone’s experience will vary, Inner Rhythms wants the most pain-free, enjoyable experience for every client. In order to minimize discomfort during a waxing session, here are a few simple guidelines to follow that will dramatically improve your experience during and after each waxing appointment.
- We recommend waiting two to three weeks before scheduling a wax.
- Avoid shaving between waxing appointments as this will speed up hair growth, and hair may grow thicker.
- Roughly seven days prior to your waxing appointment, we recommend avoiding any prescription or over-the-counter retinoids (topicals used to treat conditions such as acne), as well as other hydroxy acids.
- The ingredients in these topicals that assist with exfoliating the skin can also create a higher degree of sensitivity than normal and may even result in a burning sensation after a waxing session.
- A couple of days before your appointment, we recommend exfoliating, albeit dry brush, loofah, scrub, etc. This will make a profound difference in the waxing session.
- For women, if you find waxing to be very painful, it is best to avoid scheduling your session the week before or during your period. Your body is highly sensitive to pain during that time, so it is best to wax within the first two weeks of your monthly cycle.
