Maya Abdominal Therapy®
Dr. Rosita Arvigo originally taught the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® (ATMAT). They had been passed down from generation to generation of midwives and holistic healers in Central America. This ancient technique focuses on abdominal massage and, more specifically, a non-invasive manipulation of the abdominal area that addresses both the pelvic and abdominal organs’ position and health.
ATMAT is performed on the abdomen (from the diaphragm to the pubic bone) and the mid to lower back (from the rib cage to the tailbone), gently guiding the uterus to its optimal position within the pelvis.

Contraindications: When Not to Get Treatment
While the Maya Abdominal Therapy® is a safe and benign procedure, there are times and occasions when it is best not to receive or perform the treatment, which are:
- During or immediately (1-2 days) before menstruation (bleeding)
- Within 3-6 months of abdominal surgery
- When there is an active infection or cancer in the pelvic area
